So the first recipe I want to let you all know about is one of my FAVORITES right now. It contains honey, brown sugar, and olive oil. It is good for a multitude of things. Such as: facial scrub(for dry, itchy, flakey skin), body scrub, lip scrub, foot scrub etc etc. I personally have very dry skin all over my body. My face gets very dry, and sometimes a bit flakey. Also I have Keratosis Pilaris(aka chicken skin) on the backs of my arms, and legs. My hands also get really really dry and cracked in the winter especially. AND my feet are very dry. SO I use this scrub all over, and its amazing!!! The brown sugar scrubs away the dead skin cells, while the honey and olive oil give me healthy moisturized glowing skin! You dont even need moisturizer after you use this. I will put a moisturizer on sometimes anyway, just because my skin is SO dry. My hands especially need the extra moisture. Also, dont worry about getting it in your mouth. Its so sweet, and yummy. You can even have it as a snack while you're waiting! haha Anyway, here is the recipe. I hope you use it and LOVE it as much as I do. (even my husband used it today. His face is baby soft now)
Brown sugar scrub
3 tbsp olive oil
3 tbsp honey
1/2 cup brown sugar
mix well, and apply to dry skin rubbing it in for approximatly 30-60 seconds. Rinse thoroughly. Moisturize with unscented moisturizer ONLY if needed.
Benefits of honey:
Honey has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antioxidant properties. It is also a humectant which helps it attract moisture to the skin.
Because honey is an anti-ittitant it is very good for dry, sensitive, irritated skin. Its also great for mild acne, damage caused by sun exposure.
Honey is well tolerated by all skin types.
Benefits of Brown sugar:
Brown sugar has moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties. Its great for exfoliating. It tightens pores, eliminates fine lines, and deminishes signs of aging.
Brown sugar contains glycolic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid that keeps skin healthy. It also moisturizes and conditions skin while protecting it from harmful effects and toxins.
Brown sugar can be used for dry skin , dandruff, dry itchy scalp.
Benefits of Extra virgin Olive Oil:
Olive oil promotes smooth radiant complexion, maintains skin elasticity, heals dry brittle nails and softens cuticles, conditions, and adds shine to hair. Olive oil also has many medicinal uses such as stool softener, and ear wax softener. (Mmmm)
If ingested: Olive oil is very high in antioxidants including vitamine E. Also has a protective effect against certain types of malignant tumours and reduces the risk of heart disease, and stroke.
Extra virgin olive oil is the best choice as it is the least processed, and retains the highest nutrient value.

New Blog!
Ok, so I've had this blog for a while now, and never used it! Mostly because it had no real purpose, except to vent, and write down ideas and inspiration I came accross. BUT....now I have more of a purpose. I've decided that Im going to create a blog about FOOD! haha Not really. But latley I have been creating alot of concoctions for things like exfoliaters, eye make-up remover, baby wipes etc etc. AND the best part?? I make them with things mostly found around my house! So this is just a preliminary post to let you know what I will be blogging about in the future. Im going to write about different properties found in food like honey, oatmeal, tomatoes, lime, avocado etc. Then Im going to blog about different recipes I have come up with, or have come accross on google, or you tube etc. So if any of you have any GREAT recipes or ideas, let me know! I love DIY!
